Infection control is concerned with preventing healthcare- or hospital-acquired infections through various means, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), effective handwashing, sterilization of all materials and surfaces, and vaccination of healthcare workers. During this certification, participants learn how to reduce the risk of contracting an infection, different types of infections and diseases (including STIs), and other related skills in order to be prepared for work in a healthcare setting such as a hospital.
