Grade 11 and 12 Biotech SHSM Students:

Trillium Health Partners is offering TDSB 6 virtual placements for a four week program during the following dates: February 16 – March 12, 2021. The remainder of the Quad will be filled with asynchronous healthcare certifications and learning.

Placement descriptions:

3 spots with the Volunteer Resources placement at THP. Requirements for this placement are:
  • Laptop/Computer and internet
  • Ability to meet on Zoom or MS Teams
  • A keen interest in learning all healthcare opportunities within THP. Students will have the opportunity to connect with speakers from different departments at THP and complete assignments throughout the month.
1 spot with the Operating Rooms placement at THP. Requirements and topics for this placement are:
  • Laptop/Computer and internet
  • Ability to download new and free software
  • Serious candidates with a keen interest in medical field
  • Updating orientation packages à mini research projects on various operating room topics
  • Developing learning tools for new hires and existing staff on identified topics
  • Development of internal quality documentation tools for processes being audited
1 spot available with the Institute of Better Health placement at THP. Requirements for this placement are:
  • Laptop/Computer and internet
  • Ability to download new and free software
  • Interest in learning about Research Operations and creating an animated video
1 spot available with the Oncology Clinic placement at THP. Requirements for this placement are:
  • Laptop/Computer and internet
  • Ability to download new and free software
  • Interest in learning about Creating web page content
Placement tasks will be:
  • Assigning tasks and larger projects to individual students to complete over the course of the week from home. They will check in with students at least once a week.
  • Collaborative group projects with students working in groups to come up with solutions to meet the needs of their department (i.e. helping with new department initiatives for patients). Again, students will work from home and check in at least once a week.
  • Students can attend online department meetings where appropriate, work on research projects, or other tasks assigned.
